COMMUNITY Arts North West in association with Zion Arts Centre and Sunshine Studios will be hosting the new Urban Music Theatre 2008 performance ‘Street Dreams’.
The production will be an original, dynamic hip hop production fusing dance, live music, digital arts and spoken word and will take place at Zion Arts Centre from 4- 6 December at 7.30pm.
‘Street Dreams’ is the third and final show from the ambitious three year Urban Music Theatre project supported by the Big Lottery Fund and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation, with a cast of 50 participants aged between 13 - 20 from local communities across Greater Manchester.
Launched in 2006 by Community Arts North West as the youth arts initiative branch of the Exodus Artistic Programme, the project unites young refugees and asylum seekers with other young people from host communities across the city, who have worked together to devise an alchemic mix of original and dynamic hip hop theatre.
Said Chris Sudworth, drector of ‘Street Dreams’: "The Urban Music Theatre 2008 project offers the rare combination of huge personal and social developmental journeys alongside a high level of artistic challenge for both the participants and artists together.
"This encourages exploration of the possibilities of each different art form and how they can cross over to create a coherent, high quality and innovative theatre production."
