ROSSENDALE accountant Umar Memon received business tips from one of the region’s leading entrepreneurs at an event in support of The New Children’s Hospital Appeal.
Michael Oglesby, founder of Manchester property giant Bruntwood, was put under the spotlight at the Many Hands Campaign event held at Manchester twn hall.
Umar, who lives off Burnley Road, Crawshawbooth, is sponsoring the Many Hands Campaign through his accountancy practice Jack Ross, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary.
The prestigious event saw more than 100 of the region’s business people gather to see Michael Taylor, editor of North West Business Insider, interview Mr Oglesby.
With many of the questions surrounding the current economic climate, Mr Oglesby gave his advice on how firms can survive the credit crunch.
Umar, who is a partner at Jack Ross, said: "It was fascinating to get Mr Oglesby’s take on the economy – something I think everyone who attended will agree on.
"Of course as well as the economy, another strong theme of the night was how businesses can help to support The New Children’s Hospital Appeal and joining the Many Hands Campaign is the perfect way to do that."
The aim of the Many Hands Campaign is to engage 250 businesses to each raise £1000 for The New Children’s Hospital Appeal over the course of a year – collectively raising £250,000.
It is backed by Theo Paphitis of Dragons’ Den and the money raised will go towards accommodation for parents whose children are being treated at the new hospital, which is due to open on Oxford Road, Manchester next year.
The money will also fund specialist equipment for treatment and diagnosis at what will be the biggest children’s hospital in the country.
