A FATHER-of-two who has never held a driving licence has been jailed for his second drink-drive offence.

Preston Crown Court heard that Omar Saddiq was also in breach of a six-month suspended prison sentence which had been imposed for perverting the course of justice.

Saddiq, 26, of Ormerod Street, Accrington, admitted driving with excess alcohol and without insurance, a driving licence and MOT.

He was jailed for two months, and eight weeks of the suspended sentence was activated to run concurrently. He was disqualified from driving for three years.

Mr Jeremy Grout-Smith, prosecuting, said the offences took place in June when Saddiq was stopped on Dunkenhalgh Way at 3am.

He was driving unusually slowly and was weaving across the road.

Mr David Thomas, defending, said Saddiq had made efforts to change his circumstances.

The judge, Recorder Simon Parrington, told Saddiq: "You seem to have little regard for the law. You committed this offence when you knew you had a previous conviction for a similar offence."
