ROBBERS armed with knives threatened staff before stealing cash from a fast-food restaurant. Three men went into a McDonald's on Wilmslow Road, Fallowfield.

Two of them jumped over the counter and threatened staff  then went into an office and demanded cash. They escaped in a car with the money with a fourth man towards Wilbraham Road.

Two of the men were Asian, slim and wore dark clothing. A third white and slim. All had their faces covered.

DC Katy Watkins, from West Didsbury CID, said: "The staff were simply trying to do their jobs when they were put through this frightening experience.

"A number of innocent customers have also been left shaken by these mindless thieves. I would appeal to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or saw the car being driven away or abandoned to contact police."
