Bus racist who made me so very ashamed

11/10/2007

I am a woman aged 56. While travelling on the 347 bus from Ashton to Denton a white man and woman got on, aged approximately 18.

The man sat next to a young Asian woman in her 30s. What happened next has disgusted me and made me very ashamed to be white and English.

The man proceeded to torment the Asian lady with such racial abuse the likes of which I have never witnessed before.

He stared at her, held his nose between his finger and thumb, then went in his sports bag and produced a deodorant spray, and openly sprayed it towards the lady’s face.

No one including myself said or did anything to prevent this racial abuse, of which I am deeply ashamed.

As the lady got up from her seat to get off the bus in Audenshaw, she tripped and the man shouted more abuse at her.

This racist thug is everything that England should be ashamed of, he contributes nothing to society.

If the Asian lady reads this, please accept my apologies for doing nothing. If the racist thug reads this, you’re the scum of the earth.

Sadly there are people with bad views in every Society and ethnic group. You should not feel ashamed of your colour or your country, because of one bitter and twisted individual. The English seem to feel they hold the rights to self chastisement and critisism. I was on holiday once and some one said 'Sorry I am English' sad is'nt it. You would not hear someone from any other country or culture apologise for the acts of another or for who they are. As for doing nothing, in these times of increased knife crime, who was to say you would not have got more than you bargained for if you had interveened. No country has done more to try and adapt to multiculturalism than this one. Lets embrace diversity as well as hoodies!!
