Shoulder to shoulder

Manchester Council for Community Relations (MCCR) is supporting the diverse communities of Manchester in their call for peace and harmony.

We are standing shoulder to shoulder with members of the Muslim, Hindu, Jewish and Christian faiths in solidarity throughout the current crisis. We are all determined that the conflict in the Middle East will not affect community relations in Manchester.

The conflict has already taken a heavy toll in loss of life for soldiers and civilians. We send our condolences to their families.

We are concerned that some extremists may attempt to take advantage of this conflict and target some sections of the communities. We will not tolerate any attacks on any faiths or communities.

In Manchester a great diversity of communities and faiths live together in harmony. We are determined that the war in Iraq should not be allowed to disrupt the good community relations developed over decades.

We will do out best to ensure that our communities and places of worship are safe and protected in these difficult times. We will work to maintain communication and understanding between communities and faiths in Manchester.
