MPs’ lip service to our so called democracy

24/ 4/2003

I was under the impression that in Britain we lived in a democracy with free speech and free opinion.

Yet elected representatives under threat from government chiefs and whips went against the wishes of their electors.

The electors, the public who in majority - around 90 percent public opinion - did not want to got war before the US and Britain invaded Iraq.

Yet these MPs who were supposed to be representing their constituency voted contrary to the feelings, opinions, wishes of their constituents. Why?

Hence the MPs merely rubber-stamped killing of innocent Iraqi people.

There is no democracy, nor freedom of expression in this country but mere lip service. Because the system of government and parliament and monarchy is so corrupt that underhand deals, decisions are made to suit the needs of the government, its MPs, and ministers.

Frankly I want to have nothing to do with Blair and Bush who are evil men.

Mohammed Salim, Rochdale.
