Your Letters
We’re praying for you Tara
5/ 6/2003
I was horrified to read your front-page story about the Manchester girl who was forced to have circumcision.
I just can't believe Tara had to go through such a barbaric operation in this day and age.
Her family told her it was her "duty" as a Muslim girl, well I'm not surprised the amount of times people from the Muslim community have used Islam as an excuse to do things that are obviously non-Islamic.
I wish Tara all the best for her future and I know this has had a great impact on her life and would continually haunt her but with God's will she would be able to move on.
She has taken the first step by talking to the press and her next step will be to pick up where she left and make a life for herself away from people who were involved with the circumcision, including her family.
If you are reading this Tarar, my family and I are praying for you.
