Ethel Barton

A WORKER in the picking room at Porritt and Spencer, Mrs Ethel Barton, died at Highfield Hall Nursing Home, Haslingden, on Tuesday 1 July, aged 88.

She was originally from Haslingden and moved to Plymouth for about 30 years before returning to Haslingden. She lived latterly in Pentland House for 12 years and moved into Highfield Hall 18 months ago.

Wife of the late Harry, she leaves her daughters Glenys and Joyce, sons Derek and Alan, son-in-law Stephen, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a gret-great-grandson.

Her funeral is on Monday 7 July when the Rev Roger Smith will lead prayers at the Pleasant Street Chapel of Rest, Haslingden, at 10.30am before service and cremation at Accrington at 11am.
