Frances Guy

RETIRED canteen worker at Lambert Howarth and Sons, Whitewell Bottom, Mrs Frances Guy of Haslingden Hall Residential Care Home, Haslingden, died at home on Thursday 3 July, aged 92.

She was born in Crawshawbooth and when she left school she went to work as a weaver at Kippax Cotton Mill.

Mrs Guy married Harry in 1939 and they lived in Crawshawbooth until 1950 when they moved to Far Bank Top Farm, Lumb.

She went on to work at Caleb Shepherd’s, Whitewell Bottom, and retired in 1954 from Lambert Howarth and Sons.

Mrs Guy continued to help her husband on the farm until they retired in 1982 and moved to Whitewell Bottom.

She enjoyed sewing, baking and gardening and really enjoyed holidaying with her late husband, late sister Mary and brother-in-law Richard.

Wife of the late Harry, who died in 1992, she leaves her daughters Jennifer and Margaret, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a sister, two sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Her funeral was on Tuesday 8 July when the Rev Roy Nichols led a service and cremation at Burnley. Family flowers with donations to Haslingden Hall Residential Care Home.
