Not the life of Riley
27/ 7/2007
"I grew up being called a bitch, a bastard and an idiot. I
answered to a variety of names that roughly translated into the
same thing. Sali, harami, haramzadi, kameeni were the insults in
Urdu that I was most familiar with. Bhahenchode (sister f***er) and
maaderchode (mother f***er) were ones I heard frequently, but only
understood years later.
Just to make a few points clear: Islaam gives Muslim women the right to choose the one they want to get married to. if they dont want to get married to a particular person, they can say 'NO'. Its some asian parents who think forced marriages r ok, but they arent. And who says child abuse is OK? It cannont be tolerated! in fact, Islaam does not allow mistreatment of children for example, preferring one child over the other etc. this is wrongdoing.
Proof: The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: â€oeA previously-married woman should not be married without being consulted, and a virgin should not be married without asking her permission.†They said, â€oeO Messenger of Allaah, how is her permission given?†He said, â€oeBy her silence.†(Reported by al-Bukhaari, 6455).
So full of rage, uk, if u think forced marriages and mistreating children is OK, then now u know it is not. I think ur opinions r abit harsh. Islaam tells us to be moderate.
Be open minded about things, I hope in future, u r not someone who gives Islam a bad name. Thank you.

your parents came here 50 years ago as immigrants so u are still seen as outsiders. dont think u are british or the western culture is your! yes your mother was right bout everything she said!
farazana, i would not want to know you!
so wht if your parents want you to marry someone of their choice? you women go round thinking you got something else just because you are in 'UK'
And please do not make child abuse a big deal in pakistani household...dont tell me that there is no childabuse in white , black household

I know lots of girls this has happened to. I think Ferzanna Riley is very brave to write a book about her story and talk about it. I heard people say that she's dissing the Muslim culture but it's Muslim families who do this to their daughters so they're the ones who are damaging their religion.
