Dancing queen’s touch of class

5/10/2007

AN INDIAN dancer is hooking up with a renowned orchestra in a bid to get children interested in classical music.

Vinata Godbole will be joining rappers and African drummers alongside the Lancashire Sinfonietta at the Carnival of Animals concert in Preston.

They will be teaching children about wildlife and music through dance and performance.

Vinata, aged 43, of Lowerfold Way, Healey, who has also performed in TV shows ‘Cracker’ and ‘Tellytubbies’, said: "The idea is that we involve a lot of children and introduce them to classical music.

"I am really looking forward to it."

Orchestra manager Fiona Sinclair said: "Through dancing Vinata will be teaching children about wildlife, movement and habitat.

"It is a really exciting project and promises to be huge fun."

The Carnival of Animals takes place at the Preston Guildhall on 17 March.
