Playwrights invited to pen new work

BUDDING playwrights in the north west are being invited to put pen to paper - and maybe see their work come alive at the Royal Exchange Theatre.
The second Bruntwood playwrighting competition has been launched to find the country's best new writing talent.
Winners will share a £35,000 prize fund and have their work considered for production by the Royal Exchange theatre. Leading independent theatre publishers Nick Hern Books will also publish winning plays which are produced at the Exchange.
The first Bruntwood competition, held in 2005, attracted almost 2,000 entries and all three winners made the Royal Exchange stage.
