Dance queen marks anniversary

31/ 5/2007

KAJAL Sharma has danced for Prince Charles, the Queen of Thailand and Margaret Thatcher but she was perfectly happy to perform before a non-celebrity audience in Stockport.

Kajal (left in the picture with student Zahra Hussain) demonstrated the ancient art of Kathak dance before an audience at the Academy of Indian Culture and Education in Gatley, to celebrate its first anniversary.

Academy administrator Rashmi Dave paid tribute to the dancer.

He said: "Kajal is equally brilliant in academics and has a Bachelor of Arts degree. She has a melodious voice and is a gold medalist in vocal music from Agra University."

The academy teaches south Asian languages, music and instruments.
