Akshay Kumar takes a ride on the wild side

15/ 4/2008

OPENING 2008 with a bang, Bollywood braveheart, Akshay Kumar, kicks into action with his first blockbuster release of the year - Tashan.'

Our favourite action hero will have audiences on the edge of their seats when the multi-starrer unleashes in cinemas across the UK and internationally on 25 April.

After riding on a thundering wave of Box Office success throughout 2007, Bollywood superstar, Akshay, now takes control of the gearstick as the driving force of Bollywood’s most ambitious road trip movie to date.

Playing desi wannabe gangster, ‘Bachchan Pandey’, in his own, inimitable ‘tashan’ (style), Akshay Kumar heads a stellar cast in a diesel-fuelled road trip across India, taking in the vast expanse of Rajasthan, screeching to a halt at Haridwar, among other pit stops along the way.

Bollywood bad boy, Akshay, will have audiences clutching to their seats as he takes them on a fast paced journey that heralds a whole new era in Bollywood filmmaking.

Tashan marks a welcomed return to the action flick genre that first clinched Akshay Kumar’s success in the Bollywood film industry, incorporating state-of-the-art special effects and captivating action sequences which have been performed by Akshay himself. Tashan will have audiences gasping for breath and marks the first in a series of high octane action flicks the screen icon has lined up for 2008, including Singh Is King, directed by Aneez Bazmee filmed on the Australian Gold Coast; and the first ever Warner Bros venture into mainstream Bollywood – Chandni Chowk to China.

Said Akshay:"I’m really excited about this film. It celebrates a return to the action genre for me and has given me the opportunity to showcase my physical and technical skills which, for me, are my art.

"Tashan marks a wholly new concept in Bollywood action filmmaking which will certainly take the audiences by surprise, if not shock, as they will have seen nothing like this before. This is a film that will have universal appeal, not only for action film enthusiasts, but for anyone who appreciates top quality cinema with a real edge."
