Rishtey - Relationship

DIRECTOR Inder Kumar of such hit films Dil and Beta has come up with a dud this time. The plot is uninspired and too reminiscent of earlier, popular films.

Anil Kapoor plays, Suraj, a penurious musician who falls in love with a rich man's daughter, Komal, played by Karisma Kapoor. Dad (Amrish Puri) is not well pleased but dearest daughter leaves riches behind to live with her man who she marries.

But comfort triumphs over felling when daughter accepts an invite to a wedding and she decided to stay on in the old family home.

Amrish Puri supposedly forgives her and asks her to bring her husband too - at this point the film looks too much like Raja Hindustani. Then she comes across a woman, Deepshikha, who informs her she is her husband's mistress. With no other proof she believes her and leaves Anil, her house and her marriage behind.

Soon Karisma learns she is pregnant and has a baby boy. But of course her scheming dad tries to get rid of the baby. Anil learns of the same, saves his son and leaves town with the baby. He seeks out a small town, gets work on a construction site and forms a bond with his son.

One fine day Karisma sees the father son and decided she wants the boy back. A courtroom drama forms the rest of the film.

Rishtey could have been better had we not seen Raja Hindustani and Akele Hum Akele Tum and the films fails to live up to its exaggerated promos. On top of this, no song is impressive.

There are some good emotional scenes and Anil Kapoor delivers a good performance as usual. Karisma performance as a mother wanting her son back is too reminiscent of her role it Shakti (she seems to be crying in all her recently released films). She looks great, as does Shilpa Shetty, though this is her only function, and Amrish Puri is the same old villain.

One you might want to skip.
