Bolly beauties pull few strings

Dil Ka Rishta - Relationship of the Heart - starring Aishwarya Rai and Arjun Rampal

ALTHOUGH there is nothing terribly novel about its storyline, Dil Ka Rishta still commands attention because of its beautiful cinematography by editor-director Naresh Malhotra.

The obvious draw of the film is the presence of two of Bollywood's best looking stars - Aishwarya who plays Tia and Arjun Rampal who plays Jai. The former Miss World has a family stake in the film. The script is by her mother Vrinda and she starts with the eternal love triangle.

Tia is a beautiful teacher at a deaf and dumb school who becomes the object of handsome millionaire Jai's desire. One fleeting glance is enough to convince him that he must marry her at any cost and doting dad Paresh Rawal is keen to help fulfil his only child's dream.

But Tia has a steady boyfriend Raj (Priyanshu Chatterji). The two have plans of getting married soon much to Jai's disappointment. But he pursues her unashamedly even after she ties the knot with Raj.

The second half of the movie begins to drag thanks to the utter predictability of the plot.

Both Ash and Arjun groove in well playing the leading roles. They work together smoothly probably because they share an old dosti from their modelling days.

Priyanshu Chatterji plays a marginal role with panache while Paresh Rawal falls flat owing to poorly penned dialogues.

In a nutshell Dil Ka Rishta is a light-hearted romantic flick that is likely to pull only a couple of strings at the audience's hearts.
