Movies get a taste of Honey

19/ 3/2003

DANCE diva Honey Kalaria could soon become the next best thing in Bollywood after starring in her first Bolly film - Indian Babu.

The film, a romantic musical, was shot around London and Mumbai and was directed by Laurence D'Souza probably best known for the film 'Saajan'.

Honey, who is the first port of call for Bollywood directors looking for dancers whilst shooting in England, plays a college student called Simran who introduces the heroine, her cousin, to the hero.

The film was shot over 36 days in London, 20 days in Mumbai and 20 days in Palanpur.

Said Honey: "I've turned down a few films in the past playing opposite stars like Govinda, Salman Khan and Sunil Shetty. It has been a question of having the time for filming in India. This particular offer was great because quite a bit of the filming took place in London. I've got just one challenge now - I've been bitten by the acting bug."

Laurence added: "Honey is a great actress, an excellent dancer and enormous fun to work with. She brings real glamour and beauty to the set. I can see that she's a huge star in the making. I certainly hope to work with her again."

Forty dancers from Honey's Dance Academy also made an appearance in the film.
