Big B vs king Khan

REIGNING Bollywood kings Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan
will be battling for this years best actor title at the Indian
'Oscars'.
Big B has been nominated for his role in Baghban whilst Khan is up
for hit film Kal Ho Na Ho at the International Indian Film Academy
(IIFA) awards which will be held in Singapore later this
month.
Launched four years ago at the Millennium Dome, London, the IIFA
Awards is a salutation to the world's largest film industry and has
attracted the stalwarts of both Indian and international cinema,
including Mira Nair, Shekhar Kapur, Angelina Jolie, Kylie Minogue,
Jackie Chan, Bo Derek, Thora Birch and Miranda Richardson.
Altogether there are 13 award categories including best
directorial, best picture, actress and actor in supporting roles,
best comedienne and villain and awards for male and female playback
singers.
Films up for the best picture title are Janasheen, Kal Ho Na Ho,
Koi Mil Gaya, Munnabhai M.B.B.S, Tere Naam and Baghban.
Bachchan's wife Jaya has been nominated for actress in a supporting
role and she is up against old rival Rekha for film Koi Mil
Gaya.
Saif Ali Khan has been nominated for actor in a supporting role for
Kal Ho Na Ho along with Sunil Shetty for Qayamat and Yash Tonk for
Janasheen.
The IIFA awards ceremony will be a three-day event and will also
include the world premieres of eagerly awaited 'Yuva' starring
Kareena Kapoor and Vivek Oberoi and Tamil film 'Aayitha Ezhuthu'
starring Madhavan and Esha Deol.
The event, which will be attended by prominent Indian and global
cinema personalities will begin with a red carpet welcome and will
conclude with a glittering after show party.
Promoters, Wizcraft and the IIFA will specially fly more than 350
members of the film industry, including film stars, directors,
music directors and other celebrities to Singapore.
Director of Wizcraft, Wiz Sabbas Joseph said, "Absolute credibility
has remained constant in the evolution of the IIFA Awards process.
Created in conjunction with the internationally reputed audit firm
Price Waterhouse Coopers, who independently monitor all voting and
compilation activities, the process involved participation from the
Indian Film industry as well as the public. The nominations were
then put up for polling by a global audience via the Internet, thus
reaching out to millions of Indians and Indian cinema lovers across
the globe."
The IIFA awards will be held on 20 May and the presentation
ceremony will be beamed worldwide by Sony TV on 22 May.
