Punjab king wows fans

31/ 5/2004

KING of Punjabi pop music Harbhajaan Maan made a personal appearance at the Trafford Centre as he launched his debut film 'Asa Nu Maan Watna Du'.
Harbhajaan (pictured left with Kimmi Chand) briefly toured the UK last month, however, this was his first appearance in Manchester.
The singer who has had hits with 'Oye Hoye' and 'Hai Meri Billoo' greeted fans before he entered the cinema hall at UCI and did a live performance of one of the songs from the film prior to the premiere.
'Asa Nu Maan Watna Du' - Searching for Our Roots - is the new film from director Manmohan Singh who has directed blockbusters 'Darr' and 'Dulhania Le Jayenge.'
It is the sequel to 'Jee Aayan Nu' and revolves around Asians who return to India after living abroad for most of their lives.
It poses questions as to whether non-resident Indians are really welcomed back to their own country and also takes a realistic look at the issues facing Asians in western countries.
