What a load of total nonsense

KING of comedies, director David Dhawan is back with his latest offering 'Maina Pyar Kyun Kiya? - Why did I fall In Love?
But, before you run out to get a copy, I say leave it and spend the money on chocolates instead.
This film was so irritating that I have promised myself not to watch another Dhawan movie.
The story centres on Samir (Salman Khan), a talented orthopedic doctor who shares his office with beautiful and shy nurse Naina (Sushmita Sen). Samir has a commitment problem when it comes to relationships. He tells his girlfriends that he is married so that they don't expect anything long-term from him. He meets Sonia (Katrina Kaif) and tells her the same lie, but regrets it, when they actually fall in love (pictured left).
So he tells her that his marriage is not working out and that he will divorce his 'wife' to marry her. However for some bizarre reason, Sonia wants to meet Samir's wife, just to make sure there are no bad feelings between them.
Since Samir doesn't have one, he persuades Naina to be his 'wife.'
Samir ends up telling one lie after another, until the situation spirals out of control, with plenty of slapstick comedy scenes in between.
However the acting from all three actors was lame. Khan has done good humour in the past, but when he over does it, he ends up looking silly. Kaif should stick to modelling only. She's got a lot of hard work to do if she wants to become 'Oscar' material. What really made me mad, was that her character kept on threatening suicide if she didn't get her way with Samir. In one episode, she tried to drown herself in the bath tub when Samir refused to introduce Sonia to his wife. Kaif wants to be a role model, but what kind of message is she sending to young girls if her character threatens suicide to get what she wants? I thought these scenes in particular were in bad taste.
I always rated Sen as an actress, she is a very classy lady and her talents were wasted. Her role would have been more suited for a newcomer or B-grade actress.
The music, however, was good, though a little cheesy. It had some catchy numbers and my favourite was 'Just Chill' and 'Laga Prem Rog', which were fun and easy listening.
