Girlie? Not for Shah Rukh Khan

3/10/2005

LUX, one of the most trusted soap brands in India - is celebrating its 75 years of stardom by getting the badshaah of Bolly films, Shah Rukh Khan to endorse the product.
LUX soap was launched in India in 1929. Down the ages, every leading Bollywood star has been a 'LUX' babe. Right from its first Indian actress Leela Chitnis, the soap has gone on to feature Madhubala, Madhuri Dixit, Karishma, Aishwarya Rai and Kareena.
It is probably the only brand that has had the endorsement of nearly 50 Indian film stars.
This rare feat has taken a huge leap forward with the first male star, Shah Rukh Khan embracing the product.
He will be heard saying: "Aaj mein aapko batanewala hoon meri khubsurati ka raaz - LUX. Ab batayein aapka favourite LUX star kaun hai?" translation: "I am going to reveal my beauty secret - LUX. Now tell me who your favourite LUX star is?"
Alongside him will be previous LUX girls, Hema Malini, Juhi Chawla, Kareena and Sridevi!
Said Khan: "The benchmark of a true star in the film industry is, when you are selected as a LUX star. To be amongst women such as Hemaji, Sridevi, Juhi and Kareena is being a part of an ode to beauty.
"Some people think it's a girlie ad and that it questions my sexuality. But I love the idea of getting into a tub, just as I had seen all my lovely leading ladies do.
"My endorsement of LUX is a tribute to the true beauties of Bollywood. Hindi movies without our leading ladies are as incomplete as a bathing experience without LUX, the beauty soap of the stars."
Hema Malini added: "One of the turning points in my career was when I was signed up by LUX. It was then that I knew I had made my mark in Indian cinema as a leading lady. To be a LUX star is a much sought after honour amongst leading ladies and it truly means a lot to me."

Shah Rukh was absolutely so sexy in this ad its unbelievable. So 'Girlie' is definitely out. As to why he shouldnt do it- no reason at all. Just the fuss about it without even the ad being seen is enough to push the sales up immensely.Clever Lux!
