Songs galore in ‘Home Delivery’

AT a time when song-less films are beginning to receive some
popularity director Sujoy Ghosh has done the complete opposite by
including a whopping record number of 21 songs in his next venture
'Home Delivery'.
Ghosh had no problems placing all the numbers in the film and says
they go well with the plot.
He said: "Some are built around situations and others against the
background. I wanted to make the music a part of the narrative
though I wouldn't essentially call it a musical film.
"Two-and-a-half hours is a big time for a 20-song film. Besides,
the songs aren't there just for the music, they connect very well
to the story and the audiences will appreciate that when they see
the film," he says.
However, only eight of the songs will be retained in the music
album prior to the film's release in November.
"We are planning to release only eight select songs in the album
because we don't want to confuse our audience with too many songs.
If we do find that there is an overwhelming demand for the film's
music, we might come out with another album, with the total number
of songs," he added.
'Home Delivery' is a comedy about a day in the life of a pizza
delivery man. This is Ghosh's second film after the offbeat
'Jhankar Beats' and stars Vivek Oberoi, Boman Irani, Mahima
Chaudhri and Ayesha Takia (pictured) with Karan Johar and Juhi
Chawla appearing in cameo roles.
