Adil Ray wins gong for best radio show

BBC Asian Network's Adil Ray won the award for best radio show at the UK Asian Media Awards (AMAs) held at the Royal Festival Hall.
Adil Ray's 'Drivetime' show pipped Ameet Chana's 'Breakdown' show also on BBC Asian Network, Neev's programme on Kiss FM, Punjabi Hit Squad's BBC 1xtra show and Suzi Mann's weekly 'Bollywood Top 20' on Sunrise Radio.
The Adil Ray show was reformatted in May last year when it was extended to 4 hours daily - weekdays 3pm-7pm.
It has made its name with an irreverent attitude and a comedic edge whilst maintaining its commitment to new Asian music,
Said Ray: "It was worth it to see the smile on my Mum’s face! I’m very happy."
Head of music at BBC Asian Network, Mark Strippel said of the award: "The Adil Ray show has forged a strong reputation for creative British-Asian entertainment and music. This is a good endorsement."
