LEGENDARY singer Pankaj Udhas will be performing at Manchester's Opera House tomorrow night as part of his 2008 UK tour.
Mr Udhas, who is known in India as the 'ghazal maestro' will start the first leg of his tour in Birmingham tonight.
He will also play at Leeds Town Hall on 30 March, London's Alexandra Square on 4 April, the Athena in Leicester on 5 April and will finish in Glasgow's Kings Theatre on 6 April.
The singer is billed as a lover of The Beatles, labelling them as the only band who can be called true pop musicians.
Mr Udhas was first noticed as a professional singer in the film Naam (1986) in which his song Chitthi Aayee Hai became an instant hit. He recorded several albums since then and toured the world as an accomplished Ghazal singer. He has also composed music for many films and performed as a playback singer for others.
In 2006 he was awarded the Padmashree Award, which is one of the most prestigious in India and which honours achievement in various spheres.
