Shah Rukh unplugged
30/ 6/2005
ONE of the UK's most talented and rising Brit-Asian stars Ajay
is hoping to bag more concerts with Bollywood King, Shah rukh
Khan.
The singer whose irresistible voice and fresh soulful sounds has
made him a hit throughout the UK, recently took centre stage with
Shah Rukh at a live show (pictured).
The duo who shared the stage in Birmingham, took audience requests
and performed unplugged versions of some of Shah Rukh's greatest
hits including 'Chaiya Chaiya', 'Kal Ho Na Ho', 'Tujhe Dekha To Yeh
Jaana Sanam' and a show stopping 'Jaadu Teri Nazar.'
Ajay played the on acoustic guitar while he sang. The two
performers brought the house down as they led an audience
sing-along. The impromptu set with the Bollywood superstar comes
only days after Ajay launched his second single 'Aaja Sajana' with
a fiery live show at Mumbai Rouge.
Ajay, who is fast gaining a reputation as one of the best live acts
on the scene, has played alongside Jamiroqua, Gregory Isaacs and
The Brand New Heavies.
Said Ajay: "It was really cool. Shah Rukh bhai is a great
entertainer and it was an absolute pleasure to perform with him
live. I am now in talks with concert managers to incorporate an
unplugged session as part of Shah Rukh's future live shows."
And that's not all Ajay is excited about. He has just released an
eight track EP titled 'Aaja Sajana' on the Sa Re Ga Ma label.
Ajay, a talented songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist,
has combined Asian beats, urban grooves with a twang of rock and
funk that makes him stand out from other Asian artists and he says
he is here to "change the face of the British Asian Music
industry!"
The London-born star says he was destined to entertain
people.
"I'm a live performer with true cross cultural appeal, which is why
'Aaja Sajana' has been a hit with UK fans.
"My musical style is a hybrid of every note I have ever
heard.
"I like to have funky beats, along with hypnotic melodies to make
sounds that is all my own. I write my own lyrics and really want to
get ahead in this industry as a solo artist."
Amarpal Gaind from Sa Re Ga Ma did not hesitate to sign up their
first British Asian artist: "Ajay's sounds are extremely fresh and
exciting, we believe he will go very far. Having worked with many
successful artists, we believe Ajay will also follow suit."
The easy listening EP consists of various tunes ranging from pop to
R'n'B styles, using Ajay's brilliant guitar skills and DJ 'Nite
Jackal', worked closely with Ajay to remix Aaja Sajana.
The EP is available at all good record stores around the UK and Ajay will be touring the UK next month.
