Getting personal with philosophical Masti

DALER Masti is a well known and talented singer based in Manchester.

Although he has been around on the scene for a while singing at community events and private functions, next month wil see the release of his debut album Point Proven on the 2NV label.

The video to his song Doh Chariyan is already receiving massive airplay on the popular Asian stations.

I caught up with Daler recently to find out more about the man himself.

How did you get into music?
I got into music after watching the old black and white Bollywood films including Dosti, Waq' and Khandan. They had some great tracks and I was influences early by the vocals of the legendary Mohammed Rafi. In my childhood I acted in school plays which gave me confidence and a stage presence. I also count Elvis Presley amongst my influences. My uncle, Valeti Singh Rhod who sadly passed away at the age of only 38, was also a huge influence on me.

What is your favourite type of music?
My favourite music is romantic music of any genre especially ballads.

What are your top three favourite tracks?
Hum Tumse Judah Hokeh by Mohammed Raffi
Falak Dekhu from Garam Masala
Suspicious Minds by Elvis Presley

What do you do outside of music?
My hobbies include game fishing and game shooting - this is a hobby only and I must stress I do not go shooting people!!!!!

What are your future plans?
I am involved in modelling and TV ads. I hope to further my singing career and am currently working with 2NV

Any message to your fans?
I am a philosophical guy and here are two of my favourite sayings that I want to share with my fans;

"Everything in this world is in rhythm if anything comes out of beat there is confusion in the world!"

Which three items would you take to a desert island?
A compass, a knife and a fishing rod.

And which actress would you take with you?
Madhuri Dixit or Ashwariya Rai - whoever wants to come and they're both welcome at the same time!

Who do you think is the most overated act in the industry?
Salman Khan- I want to make it public that I hate him! He really can't act and he is a complete joker!

Tell us something about you that most people don't know?
I am a keen fisherman and an excellent cook.
