Salma sung her heart out

30/ 7/2007

The winner of Bangladesh's version of Pop Idol, Salma popped in for a curry during a visit to Oldham where she performed to a frenzy crowd.

Salma (pictured) who won the nation's heart after being crowned winner last year at the age of 15, has gone on to become a mega star among the Bangladeshi community.

She was on tour in the UK and performed in Oldham at the OBA Millennium Centre to over 300 people.

Before her performance the hungry star popped into Millon Restaurant on Featherstall Road for a curry.

Manager, Anwarul Islam (pictured above) said: "Salma has come far. After winning the contest she became an overnight sensation. People from Bangladesh, the UK and even Europe had voted for her to win.

"We were very pleased to have her dine with us. Many fans turned up to get her autograph and during her performance over a 100 people had to be turned away because tickets had sold out. The event was a major success where Salma sang from her heart."
