Call for Miss India entries

26/10/2006

ORGANISERS of the Miss India UK event are calling for entries from "ambitious" young women.

Talk of the Town Media Ltd is now accepting applications from British Indian women for the Asian talent and beauty event, which will take place alongside the Asian lifestyle show, Mela '06, at Birmingham NEC

Organisers say the event not only provides opportunities for participants to gain international exposure, travel the world as a VIP but will also fulfil many people's dreams.

Last year's winner Nikki from Leicester has already started working on film projects set for release in 2008.

The celebrity led awards ceremony will be hosted on 17 November, the opening night of Mela '06, showcasing 20 of the UK's most talented Indian women as they compete for the coveted crown of Miss India UK.

The winner will go on to represent the UK in the Miss India Worldwide Finals against the winners of 30 other nations.

Miss India UK director, Vanita Panchal said: "The event is now firmly established, not only as a credible platform for new British Indian talent, but also a memorable and a fantastic show for the public.

"We are thrilled that this year's final will take place alongside Mela '06, it provides the perfect backdrop for the event and we are honoured to be playing a key part in the UK's largest ever celebration of the contribution made to British culture by the UK's largest ethnic community during British Asian Week."

The Miss India UK final will be a glamorous gala evening with performances from The Rishi Rich Project, Hunterz, Hadiqa Kiani and Ali Zafar.

Feisty female rap artist Hard Kaur will perform her latest sassy songs and comedian Paul Chowdhry will offer a hilarious look at multi cultural diversity in contemporary Britain.

The deadline for entries is 31 October with auditions taking place in the first week of November.
