Some of the leading lights in Asian pop music are coming to Sheffield for the Bollywood in the Basin event,

The free, family event, which will be held on 9 June, will celebrate the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards,

Bollywood in the Basin will see appearances from acclaimed Asian performers DCS, Juggy D, Samira Singh, Bombay Baja, and The Angel Dancers.

Guest presenter for the evening will be top-Asian comic Jeff Mirza.

The event will also include a DJ marquee, food stalls, and craft bazaar.

A special Bollywood beer brewed by Kelham Island for the occasion will also be launched at the event.

Tickets will be issued at the gates on the night from 6pm on a first-come-first-served basis.

Bollywood in the Basin is part of Sheffield's Indian Summer in the city's contribution to the official five-day fringe festival throughout Yorkshire during the Bollywood 'Oscar' ceremonies .

Said Councillor Tim Rippon: "The IIFA Awards will be watched by 500 million people around the globe and hosting the ceremony at the Hallam FM Arena is a fantastic opportunity for the city.

"What better way to celebrate than for peoplefrom all parts of Sheffield to come together and enjoy an evening of live music and entertainment at Victoria Quays."
