A CELEBRITY chef went back to school this week to encourage pupils to eat healthy, on a budget.
TV chef Aazam Ahmad, star of the BBC’s ‘Fusion’ cookery show, dedicated the whole day to teaching Year 9 students at Falinge Park High School in Rochdale how to create delicious Asian dishes without spending a fortune.
He demonstrated a huge range of recipes including a mango lassi – yoghurt smoothie drink, salmon tempura and a spectacular asparagus and pineapple chilli tandoori chicken.
Here are a couple of Aazam’s recipes for you to try:
Mango lassi
Ingredients:
1 ripe mango (peeled and chopped) or tinned mango.
150ml/5fl oz milk
175ml/6fl oz natural yoghurt
2 tsp of sugar
Method:
1 Put all ingredients in blender and blitz, pour into glasses and add ice cubes.
Smoked salmon bagels
Ingredients:
1 bagel
2 tbl spoons creme fraiche
1 tsp lemon juice
60g smoked salmon
Pinch of dill (fresh or dried)
Method:
1 Cut bagel in half and lightly toast.
2 Mix creme fraiche, lemon juice, dill and seasoning and spread over toasted bagel.
3 Add smoked salmon and enjoy for a light, healthy breakfast!
