Steal her Style: Helen

Dianne Bourne
29/ 1/2008

EVERY week we're out on the style scene scouting out you fabulous fashionistas. This week Diary Editor Dianne Bourne caught up with Brazen PR account executive Helen Pickerill, 21, who lives in the city centre, to find out about her stylish look.

How would you describe your style?

It depends what I'm doing, but I'd say quite tailored for work and then in my free time I like to chill out in boyfriend-cut jeans and retro t-shirts. But I always wear heels!

Where did you buy today's outfit and how much did it cost?

Shirt: Duck and Cover, £60

Jumper: Topshop, £25

Vest top: American Apparel, £15

Belt: from a market in France

Jeans: Sass&Bide, £120

Shoes: Mango, £45

Handbag: DKNY, £450

Who is your style icon?

I don't have an icon as such, but I admire Rachel Bilson from The OC and Hayden Panettiere from Heroes - they both always manage to look very elegant and effortless.

Name your favourite shops.

Gap for the staples, Diesel and Reiss.

What's your best ever buy?

The bag that I've got here, it was very expensive but I use it every day so I think I can justify cost per wear. It's very big and it can hold everything.

What's your biggest fashion mistake?

My mum dressed me in an all-in-one green shellsuit when I was three, which I think was tantamount to child cruelty! And when I was 13 during the Spice Girls hype I had platform trainers and I was convinced I looked like Baby Spice but I really didn't. I don't know how I didn't break my ankle in them.

How much do you usually spend on clothes each month?

Too much! Probably about £400.

What item of clothing can't you live without?

A decent bra or a really good pair of jeans.
