Posh believes we're heaven scent

THEY don't call her Posh Spice for nothing - what "Queen" Victoria Beckham wants, she gets.

Which is why, when it came to the much-awaited international launch of her new perfume, she decreed exactly where that was going to be. Right here in Manchester.

Signature For Her, the latest new product from Brand Beckham, will be launched with much fanfare exclusively at Harvey Nichols in the city centre next Friday.

It will be the first time anyone will get a chance to sniff out the new scent. Because, despite the couple making their new home in Los Angeles, she says it simply wouldn't do to hold the bash anywhere else.

"It was meant to be in London but I said no," Victoria confides to The Diary. "I said please can I go to Manchester instead? I love Manchester, it's got a really good feel to it. So I thought why not - I usually spend a lot of time in London.

"I'm really excited about coming back because, of course, it's where I met David."

'Fashion conscious'

Jetting in to town next Friday for the glitzy launch of the new scent - which comes with a matching men's fragrance fronted by hubbie David - Mrs Beckham hinted that her former Manchester United other half might be joining her.

As, she says, they love to catch up with old friends and look around old haunts.

Although, there does seem to be one other ulterior motive for the international fashion icon to pay a visit to our fair city.

"Manchester's just so fashion conscious," she purrs. "And there's great shopping."

Well-known fans of the city's shopping scene, the Beckhams could often be spotted out and about in our designer boutiques back in the day. And they cause pandemonium every time they jet back in - drawing huge crowds last time they took the family shopping in the Richard Creme store.

Which is why preparations are well under way for Mrs B's visit to Harvey Nicks next week, where hundreds of fans are expected to queue up for a chance to meet their style icon.

Seductive

Signing bottles from 11am to 1pm Victoria will be personally greeting fans eager to get a peek at the new perfume. Until now rumour has it only her new Hollywood chums - Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale - have had a sneak preview.

Described as a "seductive bouquet" of exotic orchid blended with vanilla, candy apple, patchouli and amber, the new bottle is being plugged in no less than glowing terms.

"Signature For Her captures the essence of her innate fashion flair, delicate strength and femininity - her signature - in a fruity floriental full of seduction," glows the promotional material.

Victoria, on the other hand, has taken much more practical considerations into hand.

"The two fragrances really complement each other," she says. "But they look good in the bathroom together as well."

Well, from one of celebville's most glamorous couples, we would expect nothing less.
