Ray hopes to become call centre king

A HIGH-flying businessman is celebrating after winning the prestigious title of Young Entrepreneur of the Year.

Ray Younis, aged 26, picked up the accolade at the Ethnic Minority Business Awards for establishing a thriving call centre, BMS in Canal Street, Rochdale.

He was presented with his award at a glittering ceremony at the Town Hall, which was attended by the mayor of Rochdale, Councillor Peter Evans.

Guest speakers included Phil Hawker of Lloyds TSB and Baroness Sayeeda Warsi.

The Salford University graduate was delighted to receive the recognition and said: “It was a huge honour and achievement for me.

“I started out 18 months ago with £15,000 of student debt but now I employ more than 25 full-time staff and the company has a turnover of more than £500,000 a year.

“It’s a remarkable achievement and it’s an exciting time for the company.

“I was competing against quite a few other people for the award so it was a great feeling when I found out I’d received the award.”

Although he lives in Bury, Mr Younis has strong ties to Rochdale and spends his weekends playing football for Asia FC in the local Saturday league.

The ambitious businessman also aims to expand his company and he’s preparing to open a new office in Ducie Street in the heart of Manchester.

He hopes to become the leading call centre in England by the end of next year and he is currently undergoing a major recruitment drive to provide new staff to enable his vision to become a reality.
