14/ 3/2008

STAR of Dragons’ Den, James Caan, will be making a rare guest appearance as keynote speaker at this year’s Asian Business Federation (ABF) Tiger Awards at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton, in June.

Caan was invited to the Awards as a role model for successful enterprise in the British Asian community.

Caan has an extensive business background spanning over 20 years. CEO of private equity firm Hamilton Bradshaw, he is also planning a second series of Dragons’ Den; filming begins in April. A great believer in people power being the main motivation behind the success of business, Caan agrees that the Tiger Awards are a key event in the business calendar.

Winner of numerous Awards himself, notably the coveted BT Enterprise of the Year Award for outstanding success in business, Caan says: "I’m proud to be involved in this year’s Tiger Awards. Not only do they serve to motivate business communities in the North West, but they offer much needed recognition for the drive and energy of ethnically-owned businesses in the region. I’m confident this year’s event will be a huge success".

The Tiger Awards will be open to all ethnic minority owned businesses in the North West and will take place on Friday 20 June 2008.

There are now nine Award categories, listed as Business of the Year, Business Personality of the Year, New Business Start-up of the Year, International Company of the Year, Young Entrepreneur of the Year, Sustainable Business of the Year Award, Digital Media Company of the Year, Outstanding Woman in Business and Outstanding Customer Service Award.

ABF Chairman Tahir Mohsan said: "We are delighted to have secured James as our keynote speaker; he’s taken time out of his extremely busy schedule to join us on the evening for which we are very grateful. I look forward to welcoming our guests to this year’s event".
