Smart business on the move

A COMMUNITY-based scheme is set for a bright future after expanding to bigger premises.
Rochdale based Smart-Savers, a new initiative aimed at boosting the economy by encouraging residents to spend locally, has relocated from Acorn House, Spotland Road, to the Unique Enterprise Centre in Belfield Road.
Rashid Hussain, 38, the founder of the project, said: "We are looking to a brighter future after the expansion.
"The people of Rochdale have reacted positively since we started and we are trying to put the town back on the map as Rochdale is known for being the town of pioneers."
The scheme offers shoppers the chance to save money by using a community loyalty card and aims to boost the trade of participating retailers.
It was launched by the Mayor, Councillor Robin Parker and Rochdale MP Paul Rowen, at a charity ceremony, at the Town Hall.
