Shenaz could get you on TV

A SUCCESSFUL agency for film extras has opened in Oldham – with a mission to get more local people onto our screens.

Niche Casting was started in 2007 by Shenaz Khan, who spent eight years working as an independent film maker and got many requests to help people get roles.

Shenaz  was so successful she decided to set up a casting agency specialising in finding ethnic minority extras and cast members for film and TV companies.

To date she has placed hundreds of people into Bollywood films and TV dramas like ‘Waterloo Road’, ‘Wired’ and ‘Boy A’.

Now Niche Casting has offices in Oldham’s Enterprise Factory in Hathershaw – and Shenaz wants would-be actors and actresses to contact her.

She said: "I really need more people as I am getting requests I can’t fill. I want people to call me. They don’t have to be ‘Holl-ywood’ types as it is ‘real’ people of all ages and appearance who are needed; people who can be themselves on camera without being self-conscious.

"The work is part time, but it is enjoyable, and who knows where it might lead?"
