THE lives of British ex-pats in Spain are about to get more spicy thanks to a Manchester based restaurant group who are bringing curry to the costa.
The Shere Khan chain are exporting ready to eat curry meals to the Costa Blanca where they will be on sale at Carrefour supermarkets.
Shere Khan chief executive Nighat Awan is hoping the Brit curry habit will be passed on to Spanish shoppers.
Khan curries will be on sale at three of Carrefour's hot food counters and its range of cooking sauces will be available at 26 Carrefours.
Said Nighat: "Europe is slowly caching on to the curry phenomenon, helped by the demand from the British communities abroad."
Shere Khan chefs will travel to Spain to train and educate Carrefour staff in the art of selling curry.
The project is a coup for the Food from Britain organisation who were involved in the early negotiations between Carrefour and Shere Khan.
Said Nighat:"It is a key strategy for Shere Khan to develop international markets for the brand. Food from Britain were the catalyst for the Spanish market they were terrific throughout our early negotiations."
