Palace honour for curry Queen

29/11/2004

THE Queen of Curry met the Queen of England who gave her the OBE.
The chief executive of the Manchester-based Shere Khan restaurant chain went to Buckingham Palace to collect her honour with husband Rafique, elder son Atik and daughter Kiran.
A beaming Nighat showed off conducted by Queen Elizabeth.
Nighat was born in Manchester but spent several years of her childhood in Pakistan, which she acknowledges as a profound influence on her personality and ethos.
Managing her own garment factory from the age of 18, she went on into fashion retail and the floristry business before entering the restaurant trade with her now-famous Shere Khan restaurants. It is now an international business with a range of curry products exported all over the world.
