Business awards are sparkling success

CELEBRATING BUSINESS & COMMUNITY SUCCESS
ROCHDALE'S thriving multi-cultural business community came under
the spotlight at the second prestigious annual Ethnic Minority
Business Awards ceremony.
The event, held at the Town Hall, had been sold for weeks in
advance as businesses from across the borough came together for a
day of celebration and glamour.
The day started with an exhibition of the different business and
the services they offer followed by a gala dinner in the
evening.
Organised by the Ethnic Minority Business Support (EMBS) team, the
event celebrates the most "remarkable, inspirational, and
successful businesses" in the borough as well as recognising
individuals who have done outstanding work to serve their
community.
An Independent panel was selected to judge the awards, this
included Lloyds TSB, Molesworths Bright Clegg Solicitors, Wia Yin
and Celltek.
Said EMBS event organiser Nighat Fatima: "It was a fantastic
evening, the standard of award entries were outstanding. The
evening was met with immense enthusiasm and the turnout was great.
It was a night to remember within the ethnic minority business
community and many are looking forward to it next year."
Guest speakers for the evening included; Area Director of Lloyds
TSB, Martyn Kendrick, Director of Wai Yin, Dr Sylvia Sham, Director
of PTV Prime Sales and Marketing, Tahawur Jafri, CEO of Chamber
Business Enterprise, Mike Ashton and CEO of Greater Manchester
Chamber, Angie Robinson.
