Fashion girl’s new chapter
1/ 9/2006
ISMAT Shanaz, Rochdale's answer to fashion guru Vivienne
Westwood, has now turned her sights to becoming a best selling
author.
Her first book, 'Read Between The Lines', is being published by
London-based Author House and is due to be launched at Waterstones
in the capital's Oxford Street branch in three weeks' time.
Ismat (pictured), aged 27, has also been working hard over the past
12 months designing greetings cards for a worldwide market and
hopes this business and her writing will finance her fashion
designing.
The book is about positive thinking and is a mixture of psychology
and philosophy to give individuals a 'positive edge' to life. It is
bourne out of the experiences and hard knocks Ismat has faced in
recent times.
She said: "The book is about helping other people and sharing. I
want people to believe in what they can do and remain optimistic
about their lives.
"I am telling people what I am and this is what I have been through
and it is not the end of the world. If you remain optimistic you
will realise your dreams one day. I think my book will have a big
impact.
"I first hit on the idea after writing to Richard Branson about his
successful companies and one of his managers wrote back to me and
said how impressed they were.
"It gave me the confidence to approach a number of publishing
companies."
She said her greetings cards were now being sold all over the world
and her designs were being picked up by children's book publishers
and designers of fabric prints.
Ismat said she had found it difficult breaking into the world of
high fashion because she was lacking in money up front and hoped
the cards and books would help her achieve her dreams.
