ASHTON'S curry-lovers can count themselves lucky to have one of the best restaurants in the North.

According to the Cobra Good Curry Guide and Menu magazine, the Indian Ocean tops the charts for quality of food and service.

It scooped best curry restaurant in the North of England in Menu magazine's Best in Britain annual awards and was named best restaurant in the North in renowned curry expert Pat Chapman's Good Curry Guide.

The Indian Ocean takes pride in authentic Punjabi and Kashmiri dishes such as Chicken Harri Boti and Punjabi Karahi Gosht.

These are served alongside English favourites like Madras, Bhuna and Rogan Josh.

Owner Nahim Aslam also prides himself on training up his staff to be friendly and knowledgeable.

He says: "Everyone expects a friendly, efficient service, it's the least a restaurant should offer. But we also train our staff to be knowledgeable about the food they are serving.

"Some of our recipes date back hundreds of years and guests enjoy knowing their background and appreciate it when their server can help them make an informed choice from the menu when they want to try something new."
