Yakub Qureshi
13/11/2007

BUDDHIST monks marked a special day in their religious calendar with a colourful ceremony.

The event, known as the Kathina Robe Offering, celebrated the end of a three-month fast for monks at the Salford temple. They have been avoiding travel and other activities to focus on meditation.

I'm glad to MEN staff have had the sense to remove that comment about this article from yesterday. It's great to see media coverage of a beautiful and meaningful ceremony. It is especially poignant to highlight the peaceful nature of the Buddhist monks, given current events in Burma.
