There is a need to encourage efforts where young men (especially those vulnerable) are given proper outlets channelize their energies positively.

For Amir Khan, Olympic gold medallist and Commonwealth champion it goes beyond promoting book bars. He has put a fortune and his personal efforts on a project spending a month with the troubled ex-convicts, teaching them how to channel their aggression into sport rather than crime.

The turnaround of the streetlads into straight boys was filmed for a new Channel 4 series called Amir Khan's Angry Young Men.

The star boxer from Bolton now wants to spread the word to everyone about how good it is for young lads to protect themselves through a healthy dose of sports and faith.

Let's hope commentators will find something positive to cheer about.
