Wallaa has come a long way

30/ 8/2007

A TEENAGER is celebrating scooping a string of top GCSEs — just three years after she moved to Britain.

Wallaa Ali notched up five As and one B, making her one of the highest achieving pupils at Stamford Community High School.

She already has a GCSE in RE and A Level Urdu, sitting the exams in the last two years and achieving As in both.

Wallaa, who moved from Pakistan three years ago, paid tribute to her teachers and family without whom she said she would not have got the grades.

The teenager, of Easton Road, Droylsden, will now study A levels at Audenshaw High and hopes to forge a career in medicine or law.

"I really feel good about it and my parents are really pleased," she said.
