Pupils vote for a voice

YOUNGSTERS at Brimrod Primary School in Rochdale have been rushing to the ballot box to vote in their new school council.
Six pupils – three boys and three girls from Years four, five and six – were voted in to represent the other children at school meetings, where they can put their points of view across to teachers and other staff.
Anisa Zaman, Usama Akram, Zeshan Amjad, Laila Noreen, Ben Dolan and Hina Amjad will meet with teachers every week to discuss new ideas, including activities for the after-school club and what new equipment to buy.
They will also be responsible for keeping other youngsters in the loop with a quarterly newsletter.
Teacher Joanne Brown said: "The children who have been chosen are all very responsible pupils."
