Students show the Spirit of Hyndburn

A PHOTOGRAPHIC exhibition encapsulating The Spirit of Hyndburn has been launched at Accrington and Rossendale College.

The diverse portrait exhibition, including contributions from college students, celebrates the borough’s diverse and varied society, at work, at prayer and in the community.

It was funded by the borough council and United Religions Initiative, in conjunction with Hyndburn Community Network and Hyndburn Inter-Faith Forum.

The Mayor of Hyndburn, Councillor Pam Barton, attended last Friday’s launch.

She said: "Community cohesion is something we should all be striving for and I applaud the efforts of those who have helped organise this event."

College spokesman Tahir Hussain said: "The Spirit of Hyndburn project aims to bring the community together and in doing so also creates an opportunity for young people to learn a new skill, see all different walks of life and at the end of the project see their work on show.

"It’s set to be a fantastic exhibition and will really showcase what a wonderfully diverse community Hyndburn accommodates."
