Model kids flag up the future

OLDHAM schoolkids decided that to build a model environment they would first need a mini version of where they live.
The nine and 10-year-old from St Thomas Primary, Coppice, set about creating a street by street model of where they live. It was fun with a serious side. The 'virtual Coppice' will be put before residents who can then get a realistic idea of what improvements they would like to see and where.
The public is being invited to view the model and place flag markers where they would like to see changes in traffic, parking, roads and open spaces. The project is being financed by officials in charge of the town's seven-year £20 million re-vitalisation programme.
Said school head Jenny Mitchell: "The children have especially focused on things that they would like to benefit they younger brothers and sisters."
