It’s the job for me

A SPELL in hospital convinced Sabena Mughal to follow in her
dad's footsteps and become a doctor.
The only problem was that she did not have the chemistry A level
that medical schools demand.
So Sabena, aged 18, from Cheadle, decided to swot for the subject
with a vengeance and got an A grade in just three months.
With high-grade A-levels in French, maths, biology and general
studies, Sabena was about to read Arabic and law at university when
her big change of mind occurred.
She enrolled herself on a fast-track chemistry course at Abbey
College in Manchester.
She sat the AS and A-level exams after just three months' study and
now has a top A grade. In September, she plans to read medicine at
Imperial College, London.
Abbey College usually recommends the fast-track course for those
re-taking exams rather than sitting them for the first time.
But Sabena was determined, as she wanted to use her gap year to
travel. She is currently working in a hospital in Colorado, gaining
experience before she starts her course at Imperial.
She said.: "My dad is a doctor and I think that put me off, but
seeing a hospital from a different perspective proved that medicine
was the job for me."
