They made the grade

EVEN critics who claim A-levels are easy would be impressed by the achievement of Abrar Ismail (top of the picture, left) who netted FIVE A levels at grade A.
He was part of the magnificent seven from Holly Cross College in Bury who all got five grade As.
And it was As all the way for 19-year-old Zohaib Khan who is off to Liverpool University to study dentistry after scooping three A-levels at grade As.
It was second time lucky for Zohaib from Bamford, Rochdale, last year but he failed his exams and had to re-sit them this summer.
After revising hard and much pressure from his doctor parents, Zohaib got top grades in chemistry, computers and biology.
Zohaib, who studied at Oulder Hill Sixth form college, Rochdale, said: "My disappointment last year made me more determined to work harder this year and pass my exams, and it goes to show hard work does pay off.
"My parents are both doctors from Pakistan, I have a brother who is studying psychology at university and now I am going to study dentistry."
Asima Ashiq, aged 18, from Milkstone Road, Rochdale, will be studying law at Manchester Metropolitan University after scooping three grade As in psychology, law and sociology.
Asima said her teachers encouraged her.
She said: "I studied at Hopwood Hall College in Middleton and my teacher kept on saying if I work hard i'll be able to get top grades. I didn't really need all As to get into university but it is a bonus.
"I was screaming with joy when I got my results and my dad rang all my relatives in England and in Pakistan to tell them I had passed.
"It was nice to see my family so pleased."
